behaviour and training

Through our behaviourist and dog trainer Jo Hall (BSc, MSc, RVN) we’re able to offer a range of training and behaviour-based packages for you and your dog.

Below are a range of services designed to help you improve your relationship with your dog. If you’re unsure of which service might suit you, then please get in touch to arrange a free 15 minute consultation with our behaviourist and trainer to discuss which service might be best suited for you.

And for a little more on the difference between behavioural work and training, please see our blog post ‘Dog Behaviourist vs Dog Trainers: what’s the difference?’

behaviourist services

initial behavioural consultation – £80

Initial behavioural consultations last between 60-90 minutes and take place either in your home, or in an area where your dog’s behavioural issues are normally displayed.

During the initial behavioural consultation, Jo will meet you and your dog as well as any other people who are routinely responsible for your dog’s care. This allows Jo to observe your dog firsthand and to identify any causes for their behaviour.

After the consultation you will be provided with a personalised behavioural report, which will be emailed to you within 5 working days. The report provides a summary of your discussion with Jo, and outlines steps that you can take to help manage your dog’s behaviour in the future. After the report, a free follow up phone call will be offered to allow you to discuss your dog’s progress and ask any questions you might have about the report’s recommendations.

follow up behavioural sessions – £60

For more complex behavioural cases, additional one-to-one sessions may be required in order to help you implement the recommendations from your personalised report, or to develop new techniques and resources as your dog’s behaviour changes.

Each follow up session lasts up to 60 minutes and will take place in an environment specific to your dog’s triggers. Follow up sessions include continued one-to-one support and demonstrations on behavioural management for your dog and a revised behavioural report where necessary.

A block booking discount will be applied to owners who book 4 sessions or more

Follow up whatsapp service – £10

For owners who might like a lighter touch follow up after their initial behavioural consult, or those who want additional support outside of their scheduled sessions, we also offer a subscription Whatsapp service.

For £10 a month, you will be able to share updates about your dog’s progress with Jo, send videos of their behaviour, and ask for feedback on your approach to their training and behavioural work.

The Whatsapp Subscription service is not designed as a replacement for the in-person behavioural sessions and if your dog’s behaviours are too complex, or require additional first-hand observation from Jo, then further in person sessions may be suggested.

Training services

puppy training visits – £18

Puppy visits, with a difference! During a puppy training visit, not only will we toilet and feed your puppy whilst you are at work, we will also train them for you so you can return home to a dog that has learned something new whilst you’ve been away.

A range of training will be offered during these visits which can include basic commands (e.g. sit, stay, lie down, leave it), early desensitisation to external triggers (such as cats, traffic, people) and, depending on availability, socialisation with other puppies. Your training requirements will be discussed ahead of these visits, goals set for each visit, and progress will shared through our Whatsapp chats.

Each puppy training visit will last for up to 30 minutes, and are aimed at dogs between the ages of 8-16 weeks.

one-to-one training walks – £25

Our one-to-one training walks are designed for clients that need help with some of the fundamentals of dog walking and dogs that need support in their canine citizenship.

During a one-to-one training walk your dog will be walked by our resident behaviourist and dog trainer in a location close to their home for up to 45 minutes.

Training walks can focus on areas such as loose lead walking, recall, positive play with dogs, dog greeting, distraction training, desensitisation and more. Your desired training outcomes and goals will be discussed in advance of the walk with your trainer and updates, including pictures and videos, and details of their progress against these goals will be shared after each walk.

Please note these walks are not suitable for dogs with reactivity or behavioural issues (in these cases we would recommend our behaviour based services as an alternative).

owner accompanied training walks – £120 for 4 sessions

For owners who want to learn the skills required to train their dogs, we can offer a package of owner-accompanied training walks.

As with our one-to-one training walks, the desired training outcomes and goals will be established in advance of the walks, however during the walk itself, it will be the owner who takes the lead on training their dog, under the tutelage of our dog trainer.

During each 45 minute walk, your dog trainer will show you how to train and reward your dog according to the specific goals you have set, and then give you the opportunity to practice these skills yourself in a real-world setting. They will also take videos of you training your dog to help you identify areas of improvement and help you set goals for future walks.
